Saturday 16th October, 2021 saw a gaggle of PDFAA members get together at Burrator Resevoir for the end of season Club Meet. Our Chair, Mike Grren said:

“Big thanks to the members who attended the PDFAA Social Fish at Burrator today, Saturday 16th October.

The fishing was not easy, even if Malcolm Palmer made it look so!.

The first fish went to Malcolm at 10.55 on a booby type fly as the ripple began to fill in. Next fish went to Malcolm and probably the next. Everyone frantically searched their fly boxes for similar as it seemed the fish were well down in the water.

Mike Green managed 3 fish by the time he had had enough standing up to his middle in water. Malcolm finished with a very respectful 4 fish.

It was very notable the Burrator Fly Fishing members were absent from the water and SWLT catch returns reflect the lower than usual catch rate so without doubt, no shame in blanking today!”

That’s easy for Mike to say. He caught 3!!! We hope you enjoy the photo’s from the day.

It’s been a wonderful season on our rivers. Of course you can still fish the Plym and Cad for salmon until 15th December but all our other waters are now closed until next season to allow our fish to spawn. There have been some great catches includeing some fine brown trout from unexpected places.

If members are not planning to chase salmon then please fill in your Catch Return and return it as soon as possib;e.

Thank you all and see you next season!
