Remembering Malcolm

We are very sad to report the passing of long term member Malcolm Palmer.

In the words of his widow Annette;

"Malcolm became unwell in July and was subsequently diagnosed with a brain tumour. Sadly before treatment could start he deteriorated to the extent that the decision was made for end of life care only. He left us to fish in the sky on Wed 28 September 2022."

Malcolm lived in Poole, Dorset and owned a lodge at Harford Bridge, Tavistock and shared his time there and Poole in the Summer months.

Although a Full Member, Malcolm's interest was in the wild Brown Trout only and I can attest that he thoroughly recorded his catches and very impressive his catch return was too, with some good fish, all carefully returned.

Malcolm will be sorely missed at bank clearance party's, fishing on the river and at meetings where his thoughts and experience were always very valued.

I am sure you will all join me in sympathy for his wife and family and for their very sad loss.

Annette has said that any Members are welcome to attend his funeral in Poole on 18th October. We would ask anyone wishing to attend to email the Committee for details.

Annette went on to say “…no flowers please but donations gratefully received, should you wish to do so, for RNLI and/or Dorset Wildlife Trust - Malcolm was a volunteer marine warden at Kimmeridge which is where I’d specifically like the funds to go to”.
